The Institut français and Cité internationale des arts programme enables approximately 70 successful applicants each year to develop research and creative projects across all artistic disciplines during a residency in Paris between April 2027 and April 2028.

What you get

A three-, six- or nine-month residency in a live-in studio (25-40m²) in Paris from April 2027 to April 2028, with studio costs covered by Institut français; a residency grant of at least €1100 per month paid by a partner organisation; and international travel, insurance and visa costs covered by the partner organisation.

What you need to apply

• Application must be submitted by a partner organisation (not directly by the artist). Partner organisations include French Institutes, French Alliances, Cultural Departments of French Embassies, and cultural or artistic organisations based in France or abroad.
• Proof of permanent residence outside France for at least five years
• Demonstration of recognised professional artistic or cultural practice
• Professional proficiency in French and/or English
