CATALYST | Assistant Sound Designer on The King's Ransom

What it is

A professional development training opportunity as part of the Donmar Warehouse's CATALYST programme. You will assist the Sound Designer to realise the sound design and composition for a Donmar production, attending rehearsals, production meetings, technical rehearsals and previews. The goal is to gain insight into a high-level production process while developing your skills and artistic voice.

Who it is for

Early-career sound designers with lead experience on at least four fringe-level or above productions who identify as having an underrepresented identity in theatre (Global majority, trans, non-binary, Deaf or disabled, neurodivergent, or from a lower socio-economic background).

What you get

A fixed fee of £3645–£3915, mentorship from a leading sound design practitioner, support from the Head of Inclusion and Skills, a one-hour mentoring session with a leading theatre maker after the contract, and access to the Donmar trainee alumni community with ongoing networking and professional development opportunities.

What you need to apply

• Evidence of lead sound designer experience on at least four fringe-level or above productions (Higher Education productions not included)
• Evidence of experience working with professional creative teams
• Evidence of experience working with professional technical and stage management teams
• Demonstration and articulation of a clear artistic vision, reason for pursuing the opportunity, and why this is a crucial next step for your creative practice and career
