What it is

As part of the Donmar Warehouse's CATALYST professional development training programme, this role offers early-career lighting designers the opportunity to receive bespoke practical and observational training by assisting the lighting designer to realise the lighting design for a Donmar production. The position aims to provide insight into a high-level production process while developing and strengthening artistic skills and voice.

Early-career lighting designers with experience as lead lighting designer on at least 3 fringe-level productions, who identify as part of an underrepresented group in theatre (Global majority, trans, non-binary, Deaf or disabled, neurodivergent, or from a lower socio-economic background).

What you get

Fixed fee of £3105, mentorship from a leading practitioner, mentoring support from the Head of Inclusion and Skills, access to a trainee alumni community with networking events and ongoing professional development, and a one-hour mentoring session with a leading theatre maker post-contract.
